- Our Facilities / Ein Cyfleusterau
At Nyth y Deryn, our learning environment has been carefully designed to support the diverse educational, emotional, social and wellbeing needs of our pupils. We recognise that young people learn and regulate in different ways, which is why we provide a wide range of specialist facilities that promote engagement, confidence and personal growth. These include a school gym, salon, dedicated wellbeing rooms, faith space, music room, library, games room, sensory room and sand therapy provision. Pupils also benefit from creative and practical learning spaces such as The Lego Loft, Crafty Sew and Sew for sewing, crochet and knitting, gardening areas with a polytunnel and pond, and extensive outdoor facilities including a Forest Schools zone, orienteering trails, outdoor classroom and a pupil-built dog agility course used alongside our dog therapy programme.
Our outdoor environment further supports play, physical activity and emotional regulation through the use of swings, trampolines, a roundabout and other sensory and therapeutic equipment. These facilities provide meaningful opportunities for pupils to develop resilience, independence, teamwork, creativity and wellbeing while discovering new interests and strengths. Reflecting our commitment to pupil voice, learners are currently involved in the design and construction of a new outdoor sensory space, helping to create an environment that meets the needs of current and future pupils while fostering ownership, pride and community responsibility.
